Saya lagi asyik muter-muter di Facebook ketika chat window saya loncat muncul. Seorang penggemar foto dari Semarang bertanya, “Kenapa sih kita selalu dinilai dari kamera kita?” Saya bilang, “Oya? Masak sih? Salah bergaul kali.” Iya, mungkin aja hobinya teman satu ini nongkrong di toko kamera, so pastilah orang-orang lebih suka nanyain soal kameranya. Atau, mungkin juga kalo hunting foto tas kameranya gede banget, jadilah suka ditanya-tanyain. Atau, jangan-jangan kameranya invisible, jadilah ditanyain juga, kameranya apa, wong temen-temennya pada bawa kamera dia bawanya Blackberry.

Klub foto saya, dan satu-satunya organisasi fotografi yang saya ikuti, Perhimpunan Amatir Foto atau yang dikenal dengan PAF, barusan ultah, ke 86, dirayakan di Vin’s Berry, Bandung, Februari lalu. Udah kakek-kakek. Umurnya yang lanjut menjadikan PAF sebagai klub foto tertua di Indonesia. Masihkah ada yang menarik untuk ikut klub foto? Apa untungnya? I only shoot for magazine maximum three times a year. Why? Because I am not their favorite contributor. I’ve heard that most of them have complained that shooting with me always make them do more work. They have to prepare more props and wardrobe. They have to be more careful with the make-up. And so on. Plus, I usually demand to use my own concept, as I don’t see any other reason to shoot for a magazine if not for exploring my creativity more freely than my other commercial assignment. I think it’s a fair barter considering that I only get paid very little, if there is any payment at all.
This February issue of Female Magz is, as you know, the Valentine issue. The photo theme was about colors that represent feelings. Yellow for jealousy, blue for sadness etc. I believe the pictures speak more than my words. Enjoy.

It was a fine afternoon in January 2010… clear and breezy. I could not take my eyes away from the horizon in the sea of Rajaampat, Papua. Being away from Jakarta always brings me a good mood to give a quality time to myself (an exception to my toilet affair every morning, which is awesome, but doesn’t include a million dollar view like what I had).
One thing I did remember: I forgot more things. It’s funny to see that our hunger of excitements only fuels our source of forgetfulness. I thought I better write down a few things that I considered interesting to remember in 2009, so I can remember to use it when trying to look smart in front of new clients.
