SHEYPS FOR PEACE is a fashion show and photo exhibition held by students from LaSalle Singapore.
The conceptor, Patricia Geraldine Thebez (Cha-Cha), who still studied in fashion department, came up with the idea about a year ago. She wanted to do something different, something more, something nice.. instead of being a good student only. Seeing her passion, I simply couldn’t resist to contribute my skills.
I knew this cheerful gal from Facebook. She simply texted me, saying that she loved my book and wanted to be a friend. I already sensed that she was a bit different to most of the students that I had met before. She was so in love with what she studied. So, the friendship began.
This was my first project with students only. Patrick Piay, also one of the students, organized the project management, while Patricia was in charge in creative department. They finally got 11 outfits, all were students’ work, to be photographed. So we did, only in one day. We used the studio at the school. The models, Yana Maslova (Russia) and Roberta Nunes (Brazil) from Upfront Models, were awesome. The hairstylist from Tony and Guy, Zaidah, was fantastic.
I have to say that I was very impressed with the teamwork. These students have performed consistent professionalism that is even better than many advertising agencies here in Jakarta. They were efficient, passionate and honest. I salute them. It was such a good example for students in Indonesia (read: everywhere).
I unfortunately could not come to the fashion show and the exhibition which were held in March, as I was in Europe. But I heard that it went very well.
Salute!
NB: I remember that many of the great designers have shown a real difference during their school time. So I won’t be surprised to see some big names in arts in another 15 years would be some of these students.
